Manchester United are likely to sign Nigel De Jong this summer with Louis van Gaal set to insist on his signature.
United are in the market for an aggressive defensive midfielder at
the end of the season and have been strongly linked with De Jong in recent months.
The
AC Milan man is out of contract this summer and will be a free agent, and ESPN claims Van
Gaal is a huge fan of his compatriot and is set to insist that United’s board
sign him.
De Jong just wants an £80,000-a-week salary to put pen-to-paper,
and because of bosman rules, he can seal the switch at any point.
Juventus have also been linked, but a switch to United is his
preference.
