SAG Awards Winners For 2015


At Saturday night, on the heels of winning Producers Guild Awards, “Birdman” also went home with the top prize at Screen Actor Guild Awards on Sunday night.
Movie of Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu about a washed up actor is now a leader for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, leaving behind “Boyhood” movie, critics’ favorite thanks to strong industry support.
Eddie Redmayne won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Lead Role for “The Theory of Everything,” getting a small advantage over Keaton in the Oscars race, a colleague nominee in the same category.
J.K. Simmons won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for “Whiplash,” Patricia Arquette won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for “Boyhood” and Oscar favorites Julianne Moore won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Lead Role for “Still Alice,” all had their momentum by taking home trophies from SAG Awards.
Also, next month during the Academy Awards it’s expected all three actors will win in their Oscars’ categories. On the television side, Kevin Spacey was awarded Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for “House of Cards.” Viola Davis won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for “How to Get Away With Murder.”
“Downton Abbey” won the Screen Actors Guild award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. The cast of “Orange is the New Black” was awarded Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, while Uzo Aduba, “Orange is the New Black” star, was named Outstanding Female Actor in a Comedy Series and William H.
Macy got Outstanding Male Actor in a Comedy Series for “Shameless.” Frances McDormand (“Olive Kitteridge”) and Mark Ruffalo (“The Normal Heart”) won lead acting awards for miniseries or television movie.
