Super Sunday live on DStv’s SuperSport

This weekend provides SuperSport’s football fans with the chance to enjoy two of the biggest rivalries in world football that could also have a huge impact on the fortunes of the clubs involved.

Liverpool host Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday having gone unbeaten in the Premier League for three months since their visit to the Theatre of Dreams last December turned into a nightmare 3-0 loss.

Hours later, the latest chapter in the story of Spain’s El Clasico will be written when Real Madrid travel to Barcelona having slipped behind their great rivals in the La Liga title race in recent weeks.

Liverpool-Manchester United will be broadcast on SuperSport 3 at 15:30 EAT and Barcelona-Real Madrid will air on SuperSport 3 at 22:40 EAT.

There will be no love lost on Merseyside, with these two great foes going head-to-head for a place in the Uefa Champions League next season. United occupy that fourth and final qualification spot, two points ahead of Brendan Rodgers’ side.

And former Evertonian Wayne Rooney will be eager to land another knockout blow against Liverpool and continue his rich vein of form that has seen him score four goals in his last four appearances.

Real Madrid look to have the momentum in the La Liga title race but have faltered in the last few weeks to allow Barca to grab a one-point lead in the championship.
If they extend that to four it would be a big step towards lifting the trophy with a few months left of the campaign.

And no modern day El Clasico would be complete without the mouth-watering prospect of a head-to-head battle between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

One thing we should expect is goals – both sides have scored at least once in this fixture in the last 17 meetings.
