Fans of all the premier
league teams are set to stage a protest over the high prices of tickets to
watch premier league matches which have seen a 40 percent increase in the last
four years.
The Football Supporters’
Federation and fan groups from all the 20 top flight clubs are set to present a
letter to the Premier League Board on Friday, demanding away prices to be cut
to 20 pounds and for the home prices and season tickets to be regulated more
strictly.
The fans are also asking for every Premier League club to set aside £1m per season, primarily to subsidize ticket prices for their away fans, a “structured engagement” with supporters at every club to consult on how to spend that £1m subsidy, an end to clubs categorizing games for away fans and charging different prices depending on which team is visiting and No reduction in away ticket allocations or relocation of away fans to inferior accommodation.
This protest is coming after
the Premier league signed a mega deal with BBC and BT Sports which would run over
the course of the next three seasons. The League board would hold a decisive
meeting in a few weeks to ensure that these protests don’t handicap the league.
